Does Priority Health support or condone the identification of its brand with MAGA and anti-LGBTQ provocations?
What does the selling of insurance have to do with partisan-political trash talking?
Integrity Insurance in Dutton, at the corner of Hanna Lake and 68th Street, has a sign on its building that rotates through a sequence of messages. Some of the messages tout its tight relationship with Priority Health, a major insurance company in West Michigan. One of them encourages those who already have Priority Health insurance through another agency to switch to Integrity. Some of them are appropriate advertisements and invitations to inquire. And about a third of them are MAGA taunts and jeers.
See the photographs below, taken this evening.
To the executives at Priority Health, a few questions:
- Is it OK with you that one of your “elite agents” (?) posts a flashing-lights sign urging your policyholders to dump their current agent and switch to them?
- Is it OK with you that this agency drags the name of Priority Health through its sequence of partisan-political trash-talk slogans?
- Do you not worry that passersby who observe this advertising might identify Priority Health with its partisan and LGBTQ-bashing provocations?
- Are you worried that some of your policyholders, not wanting their dollars to go to the support of this kind of messaging, might drop Priority Health and switch to other providers that do not identify with such insults and provocations?
- Do you think you should ask Integrity Insurance to decide whether it wants to advertise Priority Health or spew partisan insults, because you will not condone its doing both together?
- Are you sure that Integrity Insurance deserves “elite” status with Priority, whatever that means?
- Are you sure that you want to continue authorizing Integrity Insurance to sell Priority Health policies?
Some of us will want to see your answers before we decide what to do about our own insurance renewals this year. We will be looking for clear signs of . . . integrity.
